About the School
Harriet Tubman School of Science & Technology (HTCSAT) is a new, rigorous, computer science K-3rd charter school located in Atlanta, GA that is opening its doors in August 2020. Its mission is to serve economically underserved students of color in the areas of computer science (CS) & technology. HTCS is proud to be the first elementary computer science school in the state of Georgia. We truly believe that all children should be exposed to CS & technology at early ages. With an ever-evolving world, computer science and programming will be an essential skill for any child to learn. We are searching for a results-driven Elementary School Teacher to join our charter school and be a part of our vision to be the "lighthouse in the community" for underserved families in Atlanta.
Key Responsibilities include:
Building a classroom culture in which students love learning
Closing achievement gaps through curriculum and technology
Teaching students through an inquiry-based, rigorous curriculum that inspires intellectual curiosity and enables all students to thrive
Developing strong relationships with parents and students to create investment in school culture and academics
Driving academic outcomes by analyzing data, studying student work and implementing high-leverage instructional moves to ensure dramatic gains for all students
Training with colleagues and school leaders to receive targeted, real-time feedback on instruction, as well as unparalleled support and professional development
A history of closing achievement gaps
A history of data driven results that demonstrate increase state test scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and math for underserved communities
Willingness to learn about new technologies
Successful candidates should also have the following experiences and characteristics:
Have a stellar teaching history with a proven record of propelling student growth
Hold a Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding record of academic achievement and extracurricular leadership
Possess a GPA of cumulative 3.0 or higher (transcripts required) or equivalent of 3 years teaching experience with evidence of closing achievement gaps
Are a person of high moral character and strong work ethic
Are passionate about learning
Understands that all children can excel if the school and teacher provides proper instruction, compassion, and conditions
Strong Math and/or Science Skills
